Texas law gives a homeowner two independent grounds to protest. Your packet documents both, so you can argue whichever is stronger for your property — and you keep every option at the hearing.
- Over market value — §41.41(a)(1)
- The appraised value is higher than what the home would actually sell for. Your packet's value history and comparable data speak to this ground.
- Unequal appraisal (equal-and-uniform) — §41.41(a)(2) / §42.26
- Your property is appraised higher than a representative sample of comparable properties, appropriately adjusted. This is often the strongest ground in Texas — and your packet's Adjusted Comparable Analysis is built specifically to support it.
- File both grounds
- On Form 50-132 you can mark both. Your packet is organized so you don't have to choose before the hearing.
